What does a portrait cost?

The base cost of a portrait varies mostly by size and background selection.  Cost of shipping and handling should also be anticipated as part of the expense to the buyer, if they are unable to pick-up locally.  An 8x10 portrait starts at $150 USD for 1-2 subjects. Three or more subjects will require a larger paper size, and the price will increase from there.  Please request a consult to determine pricing for your project.

What is the time-frame for finished work?

This depends largely on my availability and how many clients I have booked ahead of you.  Factors such as portrait size, selection of a solid vs. a detailed background, revisions requested in the proofing stage and shipping (if required), must be taken into account.  Please request a consult to inquire about my availability.

Do you resell art?

This will be discussed with the client during the initial consult.  If you provide written permission, I will resell digital copies of your finished animal artwork (currently through Fine Art America). This can be of benefit to you, if you would like to purchase additional items with your pet’s portrait on them, like coffee mugs, towels, phone cases, etc!  Because it is not the original artwork, all print work will be sold at a lower rate than the original piece of art.

Can you “make up” or add elements to your artwork?

I prefer to capture the subject as it is shown in the photo, however, slight modifications may be requested by the client during the consult.  Otherwise, I will not change the color or position of the subject, or add in elements or modify scenery. Please communicate any modifications you may desire during the consult, and I will advise what will yield the best results for your portrait.

What materials do you use?

At this time, I offer portraits of human subjects in Prismacolor colored pencils and animal subjects in Faber-Castell soft pastel pencils.  In the future, I would like to expand my offering to include oil paint on canvas.

Do You Offer Refunds?

Due to the custom nature of my artwork, there will be no full refunds after the contract is signed and payment is received.  This is listed out in more detail in the contract.
